Our Philosophy

Useful things shouldn't become trash.

Cleanout Sales started with a simple observation.

Every day, perfectly usable items are removed from garages, homes, storage units, estates, offices and properties simply because someone no longer has the space, time or need for them.

Some are nearly new. Some have been used for years but still have plenty of life left. And far too many eventually end up being discarded.

We thought there should be a better option.

Cleanout Sales is a growing local-first community of people involved in cleanouts, garage organization, junk removal, estate sales and everyday reuse who came together around one idea:

Give useful items another chance before they become waste.

And do it in a way that gives people access to those items at prices that can actually feel like a bargain.

We don't want you to pay more. We want the price to come down.

That may sound strange for a store, but it is at the heart of Cleanout Sales.

Most stores choose a price and try to keep it there.

We do something different.

Eligible items are listed with a price that drops every day for up to 30 days.

You can buy an item when the price feels right to you — or wait and see if it drops further.

The tradeoff is simple:

The longer you wait, the lower the price may become. But someone else may decide it's already low enough.

There are no secret offers and no guessing what another buyer might pay. Everyone sees the same current price.

Our goal is to move useful items into new homes, not hold onto them trying to squeeze every possible dollar out of them.

A different approach to secondhand shopping

Thrift stores and resale shops have helped keep enormous numbers of items in circulation, and we believe reuse in almost any form is better than unnecessary disposal.

But secondhand shopping has changed.

Many resale stores have become increasingly curated and retail-oriented. Sometimes the bargain that originally made thrift shopping attractive can be harder to find.

Cleanout Sales is experimenting with another model.

Instead of deciding what we think someone should pay and holding that price indefinitely, we let time help determine the price.

If nobody buys an item today, it gets cheaper.

And cheaper again.

Until someone decides:

“At that price, I'll take it.”

That is exactly what we want to happen.

Local first. Not necessarily local forever.

Cleanout Sales is starting in Palm Beach County.

Starting locally lets us learn, improve the system and build the kind of community we want around it.

Many items will naturally make the most sense for local buyers, particularly furniture, household goods and larger cleanout items.

But the idea doesn't have to stop at county lines.

Some items are already available for shipping, allowing Cleanout Sales items to reach buyers outside Palm Beach County when Shipping is offered on the listing. Our goal is to expand Cleanout Sales into additional communities as the concept grows.

We would rather grow carefully and get the model right than pretend to be bigger than we are.

Have useful things you need to get rid of?

This is another part of Cleanout Sales that we believe can become important.

Sometimes you don't want to sell something yourself.

You don't want to photograph it, write a listing, answer dozens of messages, negotiate with strangers or wait weeks for someone to finally show up.

And you don't necessarily want to throw it away either.

We want Cleanout Sales to become another option.

For qualifying items, we may be able to pick them up at no charge and provide Cleanout Sales store credit in return.

The item gets another chance.

You get it out of your way.

Someone else gets an opportunity to buy it at an affordable price.

And fewer useful things unnecessarily become waste.

Have something we may be able to save? Get in touch with us.

We're building this with the community.

We're interested in hearing from garage organizers, cleanout professionals, junk removal companies, estate-sale professionals, property managers and other people who regularly encounter useful items that need somewhere to go.

We're also interested in people who simply believe there should be a better way to redistribute usable things locally.

If the idea behind Cleanout Sales makes sense to you and you'd like to participate as the project expands, we'd like to hear from you.

Useful things. Lower prices. Less waste.

See what today's prices look like.
