Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Cleanout Sales?

Cleanout Sales is a local-first marketplace for useful items from cleanouts, moves, downsizing, storage, businesses, overstock, and similar situations. Items are offered through timed cleanout sales, and prices drop in real time until someone claims them.

2. How is Cleanout Sales different from regular marketplaces, garage sales, or auctions?

Cleanout Sales is built around useful local items that need to move before they are gone. Unlike regular marketplaces where listings can sit for weeks, Cleanout Sales uses timed listings with live falling prices. Buyers can wait for a lower price, but someone else may claim the item first.

3. How does the falling price work?

Each listing starts at a set price and the price drops automatically while the sale is active. The current price is shown on the listing. When you claim an item, you lock in the price shown at that moment, subject to the checkout and payment steps required for that item.

4. How long do listings last?

Listing times may vary depending on the item, sale type, and cleanout situation. Some items may be available for a shorter time, while others may stay active longer. Each listing will show its current status and timing information when available.

5. How do I claim an item?

When you see an item you want, open the listing and follow the claim or purchase steps shown on that page. You may be asked to review the item details, confirm charges, and complete payment before the item is secured.

6. How can I share listings?

Each listing has its own link. You can copy the listing link and share it with friends, family members, employees, or anyone else who may be interested.

7. Are items inspected or guaranteed by Cleanout Sales?

Cleanout Sales may review or inspect items when possible, but items are generally sold as-is unless the listing clearly states otherwise. Buyers should read descriptions carefully, review photos, check delivery or shipping information, and ask questions before claiming an item.

8. Is delivery available?

Cleanout Sales is designed around local delivery for eligible items. Delivery availability, fees, timing, and service areas may vary by item and location. If local delivery is available, the listing or checkout process will show the relevant details.

9. Is shipping available?

Cleanout Sales is local-first, but shipping may be available for select small eligible items. If an item qualifies for shipping, the listing or checkout process will clearly show that option. Larger, fragile, heavy, or local-only items may not be eligible for shipping.

10. Do I need an account to browse listings?

You may be able to browse public listings without logging in, but you need an account to claim items, make purchases, track activity, view purchase details, and manage your Cleanout Sales account.

11. Does it cost anything to create a Cleanout Sales account?

Creating an account and browsing listings is free. You only pay when you buy or claim an item, including any applicable item price, taxes, delivery charges, shipping charges, or other fees shown before payment.

12. Where do Cleanout Sales items come from?

Items may come from cleanouts, moves, downsizing, storage situations, businesses, overstock, estate situations, office cleanouts, and other local situations where useful items need to be sold, moved, or rehomed.

13. Are all items used?

No. Cleanout Sales may include used items, new items, open-box items, overstock, surplus items, and other useful local finds. The condition should be described in each listing.

14. What happens if an item is sold, claimed, or no longer available?

If an item is claimed, sold, pending, expired, or no longer available, the listing may show an updated status or may no longer be available for purchase. Availability can change quickly because prices drop in real time and other buyers may claim items first.

15. Can I post items for sale?

Posting access may be limited to approved sellers, authorized members, businesses, or account holders with the required role or permission. If you are interested in posting items, follow the seller or listing access instructions provided by Cleanout Sales.

16. What items are not allowed?

Cleanout Sales does not allow prohibited, illegal, unsafe, counterfeit, regulated, adult, hazardous, stolen, or restricted items. Sellers should review the Prohibited Items & Listings page before creating a listing.

17. What should I do before claiming an item?

Before claiming an item, review the title, photos, description, condition, quantity, price, delivery or shipping options, and any special notes. Once you claim or purchase an item, the sale may be final unless otherwise stated.
